School Groups

treadmill.jpg McKinnon Sports Medicine offers the opportunity for school groups to witness and part take in VO2max areobic fitness testing. Over many years our Exercise Physiologists have been conducting valuable learning experiences to Year 10, 11, 12 and Tafe students.

Many Sport & Physical Education teachers bring their students in on an annual basis as it gives students a "real-life" experience and is ideal for the PE Curriculum. All results are passed on and great to use in class for anaylsis.

Whats involved: A student from the class group is run through a number of tests including, but not limited to:

  • Heart Rate at rest, during exercise, at anaerobic threshold (AT or now considered LIP), maximum and during recovery, through ECG monitoring;
  • Oxygen Uptake (VO2) at rest, during exercise, at anaerobic threshold and maximum;
  • Carbon dioxide (CO2) to oxygen (O2) ratios are at rest, AT, and maximum;
  • Total lung capacity, pre & post-exercise, (including checks for Asthma or Exercise induced asthma);
  • Body Fat Percentage.

We are happy to discuss other possible testing arrangements if required.
